ANZ NetSetGO is Netball Australia’s junior entry netball program, which began in 2008. It has been developed to provide children from 5-10 years with the best possible learning and playing experience to develop a positive introduction to netball, ensuring enjoyment and continued participation. In 2015, there was 188,078 participants in the NetSetGO program alone, run by 2,321 clubs across the country. This is a 29% increase on the previous year! Kim Ravaillion, an Australian Netball Diamond, is the current NetSetGO ambassador, and started playing at 7 years of age.
The program consists of 2 tiers: “Net” and “Set”. Net is for ages 5-7, Set for 8-10 (suggested ages only). These programs are skills, fun and activity based, rather than team and game oriented. The weekly program is coordinated by accredited coaches and umpires to ensure a quality experience for all participants. GO is the transition to junior netball competition, where they are able to join a team through school or local club.
Coach accreditation is through Netball Australia, with their Foundation Coach course “Getting to Know NetSetGO” now delivered online to reduce administration time and freeing up volunteers to mentor developing coaches. This level is primarily targeted at beginner coaches, teachers, parents and NetSetGO coaches, outlining introductory coaching information and basic netball techniques. It is the first step on the national coaching accreditation framework.
