Facing It - Health Wellbeing and Resilience Coaching

This one-hour webinar introduces Facing It, a practical health, wellbeing, and resilience coaching approach designed for coaches who work with clients navigating chronic illness, disability, treatment, recovery, uncertainty, workplace reintegration, caring responsibilities, or identity change. It positions resilience not as forced positivity or “bouncing back,” but as a learnable set of skills that helps people meet adversity while staying connected to their values, choices, strengths, and sense of self.

Editor in Chief of Coaching Life, Liz Pickworth, draws from her lived experience and professional training to explore what resilience can look like in real life. Drawing from the Sidelines Consulting article, “What is resilience, and how can we become better at it,” the webinar emphasises that resilience is a skill that can be developed over time, particularly when people are supported to find meaning, tolerate difficulty, and build practical strategies rather than being pushed to ignore pain, grief, fear, or fatigue.

Who This Webinar Is For

  • Coaches who support clients living with chronic illness, disability, pain, fatigue, treatment side effects, or fluctuating capacity.
  • Health, wellbeing, leadership, workplace, and life coaches seeking a more trauma-aware and human-centred way to discuss resilience.
  • Coaches working with clients who are redefining confidence, purpose, identity, career direction, relationships, or performance after major disruption.
  • Practitioners who want practical tools for helping clients build resilience without minimising their lived reality.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the webinar, attendees will understand how to frame resilience as a coachable capability, recognise the difference between helpful challenge and harmful pressure, and apply practical tools that support clients to face difficulty while protecting dignity, agency, and wellbeing.

  • Define resilience in a way that is realistic, compassionate, and suitable for clients with chronic illness or disability.
  • Identify why resilience is not a fixed personality trait, but a learnable and strengthen-able skill.
  • Use coaching questions that help clients reconnect with values, strengths, choice, and purpose.
  • Support clients to distinguish between pushing through and pacing wisely.
  • Create simple resilience practices that fit fluctuating energy, health needs, and real-life constraints.
  • Apply a six-domain lens to explore resilience across mindset, health, purpose, relationships, emotional regulation, and practical support systems.
