The Golden Whistle Awards
for Excellence in Coaching
A celebration of the coaches who inspire growth, build confidence, strengthen communities and make a lasting difference in the lives of others. Australia's coaches have never had an award of their own. Now they do.

Why the Golden Whistle
The whistle has been part of Coaching Life since the first edition in 2015. It sits in our masthead — a gold whistle curved into a C — because it is the one object every coach recognises, whatever discipline they work in. The whistle is what you pick up when it is your job to help someone else get better.
These awards take their name from it. They recognise the dedication, skill and heart that great coaches bring to their work every day. Whether guiding individuals, teams, businesses or communities, exceptional coaches help people discover what is possible — and the Golden Whistle Awards have been created to honour that impact.
Coaching Life has served Australia's coaching community for more than a decade and across 24 editions. Our promise has never changed: plan, transform, inspire. This is the award that promise was always heading towards.

What Winners Receive
Winning a Golden Whistle is not a certificate in a drawer. It is a trophy on the shelf your clients can see, an article that puts your practice in front of the national coaching audience, and a place on the record as one of the coaches who set the standard in the award's first year.
Who Can Enter
Entries are open to Coaching Life members on a paid Community or Professional listing. You are welcome to enter yourself, or to nominate a coach you believe has demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and commitment to the coaching community.
How It Works
- 1
Register your interest
Tell us whether you plan to enter or to nominate someone, and which award you have in mind. It takes a minute and commits you to nothing.
- 2
We send you the dates
You will be the first to know when nominations open, along with the entry criteria and the ceremony details.
- 3

Self-nominate, or put forward a coach whose work deserves recognition. One nomination form covers both.
- 4
Judging and the ceremony
Entries are assessed against the criteria below, and winners are announced at the inaugural Golden Whistle Awards ceremony.
How Entries Are Judged
Every category is assessed against the same four measures, weighted for the discipline the coach works in.
Impact
The difference the coach has made to the people they work with — the growth, confidence and change that can be pointed to.
Leadership
Influence beyond their own client list: how they raise the standard for other coaches and for the profession around them.
Commitment to excellence
Evidence of a coach who keeps learning — credentials, supervision, and a practice that has demonstrably improved over time.
Contribution to the profession
Service, mentorship and the unpaid work that holds a coaching community together.
Judging panel: the panel will be announced ahead of nominations opening. Judges declare any conflict of interest and take no part in assessing a category where one exists.
